Gabriel Martinelli scored two goals and set up another as a greatly rotated Arsenal side turned to the style to thrash Standard Liege 4-0 in their Europa League Group F meeting in the Emirates Stadium.
Teenager Martinelli, a 6m signing from Brazilian side Ituano during the summertime, opened the scoring with a great header after 13 minutes and then netted his second having a low, curling finish just three minutes after, which makes it four goals from two matches after his double against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
Joe Willock reach Arsenals third goal (22) following a shot against fellow academy grad Reiss Nelson redirected into his path inside the normal Liege box, with Dani Ceballos completing the scoring in the second half, poking Martinellis deft cross over the line for his first goal for the club (57).
Unai Emerys negative missed a collection of chances to extend their lead in the final stages, but the victory is another step towards the Europa League knockout stages following the 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in their opening group game.
