Premier League Brighton leading way for fan inclusion

Sky Sports News followed Brighton & Hove Albion fans George and Jack Holloway-Bartle for their matchday experience at the Amex in Falmer.

George is a wheelchair user and he and his brother Jack are now autistic.
Seeing Brighton is a enormous portion of George’s life and taking part in game has assisted him daily. “I have trouble walking across the scene. My wheelchair is helpful to me and means a lot. The arena is excellent and the staff are very brilliant. Just being at the games makes me, the air is just brilliant.”
At the Amex, there are lifts and wider corridors to permit for wheelchair accessibility. Therefore he could find a wheelchair of his own brighton charity, Albion in the Community, held a fundraiser for George back.
George added,”They’ve done brilliantly, they’ve done very great. Donating that chair to me was good.”
He is taken by george’s father Matthew Bartle and brother Jack to the home of Brighton matches.
“I requires quite a bit of time to get the boys ready for a game since they both have extra demands. With my Jack, he needs a calm atmosphere for a period and gets a good deal of stress.
“Once we get there we’ve got a handicapped parking area inside the ground. There is also a lift for us up into the area where George and Jack sitit’s superb.
“The club has got the balance right. Between having the facilities and making people feel included. They’re not assessed and feel a part of the group. For me personally as a parent that is critical.”
Staff in the stadium are trained to assist fans who do not possess demands. Millie Crowhurst wants to make every fan feel included also is the disability liaison officer of Brighton & Hove Albion.
“Within the floor we’ve got a hidden handicap wristband scheme for our supporters who want it. They can show that this wristband to any member of steward or security and they will provide help.
“All employees receive special training because of this. We got an addition room. We are the first in the Premier League to own this. It’s for fans who may struggle to sit in the main stadium to start with.”
