Sky Sports presenter David Jones is now currently taking advantage of an international break in the Premier League season, however he will not have his feet up.
Instead, three marathons will grow in 3 days for School Aid India, rising over 2,000 feet a day – shooting in parts of the Cleveland Way and the North Yorkshire Moors – scaling Ben Nevis’ equivalent .
School Aid India – set up by Jones’ mother Helen – provides instruction for underprivileged children in Darjeeling. Through fund raising she helped to erect a school building which is now full of children that are desperate to learn, day, a few walking miles and night to get an education their households was possible.
Not a cent comes in the Indian authorities; all of the instruction, resources, books, as well as computers, are supplied from the charity, but the results are extraordinary.
Roseberry School – named in which Jones climbed up, after the hill Roseberry Topping which sits across the North Yorkshire village – today houses 140 children in seven school years, providing them with an education to lift them and their families out of their poverty trap.
Jones said:”It is an extraordinary success story but its own survival depends entirely on donations – School Aid India is conducted by volunteers including my mom – and each and every cent goes straight to the school.
“Think of it like that:
#20 would provide a school uniform to one child which would fill them with pride,
#50 would supply one class
#2250 would cover a teacher’s salary for the entire calendar year.”
The charity has successfully finished the build of a new faculty wing, and now to kit out the building they’re looking for a carefully costed #7,590 to offer an IT center , new novels, furniture, musical instruments, sports equipment and other basic tools.
