Michael van Gerwen is your red-hot favorite however at a championship that has seen seeds Wayne Mardle and Rod Studd contemplate the semi-finals.
The four men left standing have been responsible, although fridays semi-final line-up is not one which was predicted.
The title has never been defended by him although van Gerwen is your champion, hes also the sole seed remaining after the end of the quarter-finals scattered the rest of the worlds best eight.
The Dutchman takes on surprise semi-finalist Chris Dobey, whos enjoying the best week of his career, whilst in the other semi-final Glen Durrants fairy-tale introduction year around the PDC proceeds from a resurgent Dave Chisnall, who was beaten in the final by Phil Taylor six decades back.

The world No 1 will not have everything his own way against Hollywood, whose spectacular ending was a part of the championship and hell need the same.
Dobey was in beating Gary Anderson, written in beating Ricky Evans, brilliant, and battled his way beyond Ian White. He has shown his double-to-start has been amongst the very finest and that he can win in several ways this week, but the beast has awakened in Van Gerwen.
Despite winning the Premier League, the Masters and the World Championship there are a few questions of MvG following a slightly inconsistent season.
However, this week he has looked in the disposition in living a scare against Jamie Hughes and having to locate his very best against Mervyn King, that is the time of season that he comes alive and hes got a 100 percent record against Dobey within their career head-to-head.
Professionals verdict – Van Gerwen is the preferred as everyone apart from Chris Dobey will and that I expect Van Gerwen to triumph. Whatever occurs, if Chris can go up and perform well it has been a very successful week .
Hes defeated the greatest win of his career, Gary Anderson, and hes got further than he has ever got in attaining a major TV semi-final, he has had a fantastic week and I hope he pushes on. Rod Studd
In their own words…
Michael van Gerwen – I had to create something special and as Mervyn played an excellent game I had to work very hard.
I anticipate a fantastic game from Chris, but the format is not in his favour and it satisfies me. So I need to make sure I place him under 31, because hes a bad dart player, he hasnt come this way , he has a great deal of talent.
That is the time of year when you can make a #1m in just a few months so I must be sure I am sharp.
Chris Dobey – I believe since I could not continue going on like that without being getting 40, I did exactly the ideal thing and that I wasnt setting it in a couple of legs, thats the reason I changed.
Double 16 that I took the decision to get back to 16s As soon as I took out the 100 complete with 16. It is a competition, Ive played double in. Since I began darts double out competitions and it is a format for me.
I will never look past my competitor. Obviously Michael is outstanding, the world No 1, however I will prepare myself as if I am going into some other match and hopefully Ill be in my best.
Chizzy was allowed to see this week following some kind on the ground this season that has included three nine-darters and three Professional Tour titles and having a reversal of darts.
He has lived up to this billing from the very first round where hes accounted for Gerwyn Price plus he hasnt looked back in a tournament where he has adequate pedigree, its the fourth time in the last seven years hes reached the last eight and he looks in the right form to finally break his main duck.
Duzzas year proceeds to go against strength-to-strength, with won his Tour card in January the three-time BDO world champion won a Pro Tour title within a month and has gone on to reach at the World Matchplay semi-final on his debut and the Grand Prix on his very first showing.
The couple had met before, such as a Pro Tour final at February where it was won by Duzza along with the Grand Slam of Darts past 16 two years ago night seems like being just another thriller.
Professionals verdict – why I say that is that he is currently playing and becoming his rhythm his typical of play is really far better generally and I think Chizzy wins quite handsomely.
Chisnall has gone 16 games with no averaging less than 85 at a double-to-start format, if he does this against Glen as Glen was dodging a few bullets he wins.
I dont think Chizzy, who has a lot of confidence will let off him. I see him winning and then I see him bothering Van Gerwen at the final. Wayne Mardle
In their own words…
Glen Durrant – that I should be elated but I am scratching my head askingam I at the semi-final. However, what Ill say is that when these opportunities present themselves youve got to grab them.
Im towards the end of my career, possibly five or six decades, and it is not about experience that is wonderful, I am here in order to win. If I had been 20 or 30 it is a great week, a semi-final but I understand exactly what the consequence is and I like putting stress on myself, even if I could win Im also in the Grand Slam.
Chizzy is a winner whos playing fantastic while Im pulling and snatching, a famous PDC player but a punch at the round is swinging and catching them on the chin!
Dave Chisnall – Its a format as we have seen with all the seeds heading out but I only try and plod on, eliminate and runninghit scores and hit stinks.
Playing Gerwyn in the round – and it was a match that went the way but Ive had three games. Steve [Bunting] was and Nathan is this a player.
It has been a year, Im very happy in the home also and that means Im glad when I go out also.
